KEN BEST

BA, MA, CCP

Ken (He/Him) holds a Bachelor of Arts from Simon Fraser University, and a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University, from which he graduated with honours. He is a Certified Coaching Professional through the Certified Coaches Federation.

Ken’s relational therapeutic approach is Humanistic and Person-centered. In Ken, you have an ally who is confident that you are capable of making meaningful change. His education and experience provide an essential foundation, but the real work begins when you collaborate to co-create achievable goals that encourage your healing, personal growth, and authenticity.

Ken helps individuals, couples, and families to address depression, anxiety, and mental health concerns. He does this in a way that does not feel pressured or rushed. Instead, all are welcome to move at their own pace. Ken’s experience with youth and young adults makes him familiar with the specific needs and challenges of this complex phase of life. His work with first responders addresses the stress, trauma, fatigue, and burnout that can result from these demanding roles.

Ken is affirming of the LGBTQ2S+ community. He is skilled at working with those in the community who are healing from non-affirming experiences with faith-based traditions. Through counselling, individuals learn to celebrate their own truths and values while processing the past and honouring their ability to make choices for the future.

Ken is accepting and welcomes diversity. He is humble and curious when exploring the cultures of his clients. He acknowledges that he is fortunate to live and work on the traditional, ancestral and unceded territories of the Coast Salish peoples: The Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), Stó:lō and Səl̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) and xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam) Nations.
